MOUNTAIN BIKING: Wannamaker Park

← SC NORTH SANTEE RIVER NORTH SANTEE SC Single Tracks →

Description

This trail has JUST opened (still has that ***SNIFF***... Mmmmmmm, new trail smell). When you pedal out of the parking area just past the gate (and the pole with a slot in it for the $1 day use fee) there are signs indicating which direction to ride. This is based on the day of the week.

As I said, this trail is "new" and the guys who worked on it have done a EXCELLENT job of putting together a great trail. Once it's been used it's gonna be REALLY fun. If you're looking for a fast, smooth trail, then you'll have to participate by riding it with everyone
else. It will be, but just needs to be "broke in". It will certainly be that way once the trail has been used. There are many berms, jumps and even a "cork screw" bermed corner that winds totally under (or over) itself with a bridge called the "toilet bowl". This is on a section called "the ridge" which is a somewhat technically challenging area. There's a bypass for beginners.

The "official" opening for the trial is scheduled for around June 1, 2012. RIDE IT NOW!!!

Great addition to the one good trail we have here in the Low Country.

Directions

Trail head is NOT located in the Wannamaker County Park. To get to trail

head, go into Goose Creek and travel down St. James Ave. Turn onto West

View Blvd. (toward Crowfield Plantation Subdivision). Right before West

View Blvd. turns towards the right into the neighborhood, there will be a

dirt road that runs parallel to West View Blvd. You will find the trail head

down to the left.
